Recent Changes

I plan on traveling to three communitiesthis term to work with you on assessment in the mathematics classroom. This weekend is stand-alone and not directly related to any of the other projects for this term. This weekend is NOT optional - absentees will receive a "0".

I am also planning on doing my usual community visits this term. Dates, places, etc will be determined after we have a chance to dialogue. I plan on setting up one WebEx conference for the week of Jan 23 to facilitate this discussion. Please leave your name and date that is NOT good for you that week for a web conference. i plan on starting it at 5:00 pm and it should not take more than one hour. Afterwards I can leave the discussion open for any questions about the course.

I will be at the keys of my computer Monday through Friday from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm. Occasionally I will be out of town traveling with a research project but should be only 3 or 4 days this term.

Your activity(ies) need to have an element of measurement (distance, volume, temperature, time, etc.) as well as an element of location (finding something, co-ordinate geometry, relative positioning, etc.). You are free to use any scenario you wish, be it classroom, field trip, virtual, etc. I do ask that it exists within the realm of practicality (for example, no travelling to Spain to collect a kilogram of sandJ).
Being this is an activity that you could use in a classroom setting you will need to directly address a specific curriculum outcome (s) (SCO). You will also need to include an assessment plan showing how you will measure student understanding and comprehension of the SCO’s.
